Artist Statement
My work is the physical manifestation of my intrigue..my captivation..my obsession with glass, color and light. Being fairly rigid, orderly and well-defined, my glassmaking process teaches me patience and, never letting me feel too comfortable in my mastery of it, keeps me humble.
Ultimately, I aspire to create glass art - paying attention to the impact that light has on it in its various stages of opaqueness, translucence and transparency - that stirs viewers to a deeply emotional response. Especially in these days of social upheaval and intense political discourse, I hope to make work that can - if only for a moment - provide at least a moment of respite, peace and beauty for my viewer.
